Tangerine Tanghulu

Grade 11

To solve the issue of wasted tangerines, my local farmer and I decided to create tangerine Tanghulu (sugar-coated fruit) with the left-over fruit. Not only was this an enjoyable activity with my community members, but it also allowed us to participate in an online trend for younger generations.

Our idea was a huge success. Overlapping with a popular local plaid tiding event,, I created over 100 sugar-coated candies, which continued to sell until 2 AM.

Despite the challenging cooking process that required time and delicacy, the success of the idea was overwhelming as my family also aided in cooking additional tangerine jam and dalgona (Korean traditional sugar candy). In the end, my team and I sold $800 worth of products.
