During my summer and winter breaks since my freshman year of high school, I had the opportunity to intern at Interbird, where I was involved in several projects. My initial task involved handling large data files within the semiconductor company’s big data system. While researching the semiconductor model, I gained extensive knowledge about the semiconductor and data. However, after noticing the large amount of manual work required, I took the initiative to develop a program that would automate this process. I made a program where I can unzip multiple files at once, and extract useful information after data analysis. After successfully implementing this solution, my program was adopted company-wide, improving the company’s overall workflow efficiency.
After experiencing the automation system, I created and contributed to a project for Alldatasheet, a high-traffic website with over 9 million monthly users featuring an extensive datasheet library for semiconductors. With the emergence of generative AI, I proposed integrating an AI chatbot system, enabling users to communicate with the AI to access information before reading the datasheet themselves. My research and analysis of the company website revealed that the site was primarily used by engineers in project development comparing different types of semiconductors. I recognized AI could significantly reduce search time by helping engineers quickly identify suitable components without a manual review of each datasheet.
To communicate my vision, I developed a presentation with my research, analysis, and solution, which I presented to 3 top executives in the company. Their positive feedback led to my involvement in the project, collaborating with other programmers as well as leveraging my Python background and web development skills. Through this project, I expanded my technical expertise: learning to integrate APIs, designing the front and back-end for the chatbot, and creating a user-friendly interface (UI) that incorporated my design skills.
My experience at Interbird as a programmer, designer, and product developer proved invaluable. It moved my programming skills beyond theoretical knowledge, grounding them in real-life applications. By collaborating with seasoned programmers, I gained insight into the workflow and dynamics between different team roles, including designers, product managers, and security team. As an aspiring data scientist, working within a data-intensive company proved essential experience in data organization and analysis, allowing me to identify semiconductor trends and better understand customer needs.
